For FHE last night I wanted to take the kids to a hiking trail that I have heard about for a year and have yet to try. It was a very simple, short little trail. But once the kids got to the top of the trail they wanted to keep going. So we ventured off and up the mountain with no trail we went. It was a blast, reminded me of when I was little and that is how my Dad took us hiking. The kids did great, even Talli. She was a champ, she had no problem scaling up rocks. She was hilarious to watch though because she is so tiny she had such a limited view, so instead of going for the easiest path she just went straight up no matter how difficult or tall the rocks were. The kids loved it and Dutch was devastated when it was time to head back to the car. With the weather this gorgeous we are going to be taking some more hiking trips.

Maylee turns 5

For Maylee's birthday this year we threw her a Princess Tea party. We started by making her invitations. I could not believe how much money that saves! I spent a whooping $1.44 at Walgreens for the photos and then we hand delivered them.

Then I did a lot of pinteresting to figure out some decorating ideas and we came up with this. It turned out super cute and Maylee was really happy with it, which I think is all that really counts.

Maylee was very excited for her party and had a hard time waiting for it to finally be party time. But the guests finally arrived, some came in princess dresses and those who didn't had a selection to chose from when they arrived. First the girls had their tea party. They had, sandwiches, fruit, crackers and cheese.

We did some pinata hitting!

We had a dance party but forgot to take pictures. And then we opened presents. Maylee made out good and really enjoyed opening her gifts. Although I feel like I need to have a family home evening lesson on gift opening etiquette!

Maylee had a great birthday party and we are grateful for all the great friends she has made living here in Nevada. We will truly miss our friends when we move onto Ohio.
