I'm in the kitchen making dinner and Dutch walks in and this is our conversation...
Dutch: " Mom wants for dinner"
Me: "Chicken"
Dutch: (In a super whinny voice) "NO, I DON'T WANT CHICKEN."
(I just proceed to ignore the fit, then 2 seconds later...)
Dutch: (Whinny voice gone just as fast as he turned it on.) "Mom do I like Chicken?"
Me: "Yes Dutch you do."
Dutch: "Yay!!! I'm going to eat it all gone."
Seriously?!?! Did we have to start with the fit.

Maylee's Birthday Guests!

Mimi and Grandpa came up to visit for Maylee's birthday. They came in the day after her birthday so she got to have two little parties. The kids absolutely love when Grandparents come to visit them so they had a blast all weekend long. Friday when they got into town, we hung out at home and let the kids visit and play. Grandpa played a lot of Wii sports games with Dutch and Dutch loved every second of it. Later in the afternoon we let the kids open their presents. And yes I said kids, Dutch got gifts too, I guess the is the perk of living out of town, you get spoiled when Grandparents come up. My mom brought Fawn's gifts up for her, Maylee got a beloved unicorn pillow pet and my little ponies from Grandma, Dutch got another spider man toy and some spider man swim trunks. Maylee got a Cinderella carriage and a stuffed puppy from Mimi and Grandpa, I thought she'd like the Cinderella carriage I just didn't realize how much Dutch would love it too. Dutch got a dinosaur biting toy, which David loves, haha!
Then we had cake and ice cream for her. Lets just say we all ate way to much sweets that weekend. Saturday morning I had to do my last super long run before my race. The morning was raining and dreary. So I ran 6 miles on my treadmill and then I met up with my friend and we ran 6 miles outside, by then it was just drizzling a little and it was actually a lot of fun to run in cloudy weather. Then I ran over three miles by myself back to my house and my dad ran the last three miles with me. It was fun to run with my Dad. After an 18.71 mile run David thought it'd be a great to go see the train tunnels. Sounds great, it was only a two mile walk round trip. I actually felt fine, it was no big deal doing it except by that point the wind had really picked up and it was a cold wind. The kids had fun for about the first 1/4 of a mile and then Maylee was carried the rest of the way and Dutch was saying that his legs hurt. So all in all not super successful but it was still just fun to be with my parents.
So after our hike we headed home, everyone took a nap, even if it was just a short cat nap for some. Then we spent the rest of the evening playing card games and the Wii.
Sunday my parents attended church with us and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly because Dutch was asked to give a talk in primary that Sunday, so they got to be there for that. All in all it was a great visit. Maylee kept saying she wanted to go with them when they left, that was very sad.
I finally finished Maylee's quilt. This project took me forever because I had a specific idea in my mind and it just wasn't turning out the way I saw it in my head. So after taking the quilt completely apart two times and completely redoing it, it is finally done and I love it. I wanted the quilt to turn out to be something that I would love and like having on her bed and also something that Maylee will use. Maylee will not use any blanket unless it is the super soft stuff, either flannel, fleece or mink. So to compromise, I made the top of the quilt exactly how I wanted it and then did the back of the quilt in mink fabric, a little bit more expensive but I knew she'd use it and love it. And it is super adorable fabric. I didn't even put a single stitch through the mink fabric other than binding it, that way she'd have nothing to complain about, just a super soft blanket. I just quilted the top of the quilt to the batting and binded the back on. It turned out quite nicely.

(I have no idea why the font is different colors or different sizes, it won't let me fix it)
Maylee turned three last Thursday. I love birthdays and I always want to make the entire day a special day for my kids. This year I was hoping to do a Princess party with Maylee but it didn't work out, so instead David and I just pampered her. We made her purple pancakes for breakfast, then her and Dutch got to finger paint, she loves painting right now so I got some finger paint for her birthday activity.

Then when Dutch went to preschool we took her to get chicken nuggets for lunch and then we took her to the Cupcakery to pick out her own special cup cake. From there we headed to wal-mart and let her pick out a birthday toy. She choose play dough with the help from us, the girl is obsessed with play dough right now. Afterwards we headed home and Daddy and Maylee played with her new play dough kit until it was time to pick Dutch up from school.

Once we had Dutch with us we headed to the park to play. We played and played, then headed home to open presents. Maylee got two boxes of Princess figurines, a table that Daddy made her and a tea party set.

I wasn’t too sure if she would like the tea set but I went ahead and got it anyways and I’m so glad that I did, her and Dutch played “tea party” for three hours straight that night and they really haven’t stopped since. It’s so cute to watch them play and I love how they make sure to always bless their fake food.

We had a great day spoiling Maylee, I really can’t believe she is already three, it has gone so fast, she is growing up so quickly and I can’t say that I like just how fast it is happening. Maylee is completely potty trained except at night, her favorite song is “Tinkle Tinkle little star… aka Twinkle Twinkle little star” But I like the way she pronounces it better. She is still crazy and obsessed with anything princess, her favorite colors are pink and purple. She absolutely loves to dig and play in the dirt. She is constantly outside “planting” flowers and making a mess. She is a bossy little thing and gets so upset when Dutch and Talli do not do what she says. She loves to play “Mom & Dad” with Dutch. Ever since she has gotten into her big girl bed a couple of months ago I’m pretty sure she has only slept in it all through the night only a handful of times, the girl will not stop coming into our room. She hates pizza and loves Macaroni and Cheese. She still insists on drinking out of a sippy cup 75% of the time no matter how hard I try to convince her that she is a big girl and doesn’t need it, although she calls it a “sipper” cup and I love to hear her say it. She still hates to wear clothes and only wears them when we leave the house or if she is playing outside. If she does wear something in the house it is generally just her “swimsoup” (swim suit). Maylee is a wild, crazy, sweet, snuggley, bossy, dramatic little girl and we love every little single thing about her. She is still my baby girl and I love her so much.

10 down 2 to go...

Block weeks are never any fun around here. David has test for six days. They start on Friday and go to the next Friday. One test a day sometimes two. And it's not just a week long, it's more like two weeks long because the frantic studying starts a week before block week start. So for about two weeks the kids and I hardly see Daddy and this is every six weeks. The kids will even go 48 hours without seeing him. He'll leave before they wake up and won't be back until they're in bed. It's no fun. By the end of those two weeks the kids and I are sick of each other and ready to play with Daddy. This last block week was the worst one yet. School is getting harder and blocks are getting more intense. We barely saw David, not once did he go to bed at the same time as me, no fun, he stays up any where til 12-3:30 in the morning studying. But he did awesome on his exams and so it was all worth it in the end. But I am so excited that we are down 10 block weeks and only have 2 more to go. Yay!!! After blocks this week when he finally came home from his last exam, he sat down on the couch to check his grades and he was bomb barded by the kids. They couldn't get enough of him or leave him alone for a minute, I felt the same way. It's always nice to have Daddy around.

Valentine's Day

For Valentines day I wanted to do something special but something that could still be enjoyed while having our three sweet little Valentines in tow. So we went to Burger King! And it was perfect, we all got to eat dinner, David and I without having to fight the kids and the kids had a Blast playing in the playland. They made a couple of friends and David and I just enjoyed watching them run around and play. It was a fun evening.
And this little girl is wild. She has no problem crawling right up the steps and playing.

It finally happened Thomas & Friends has been replaced. I really didn't think this day would come for a few more years and I was actually pretty sad that it has come to an end. The biggest reason that I am sad is because I decided at Christmas time that I was just going to embrace the fact that Dutch loves Thomas and get him more Thomas toys for Christmas and not even try and get him to like any other toy. Then at Christmas Stormy and Spenser taught us how to use our Wii with the Internet. When we got home from Christmas the first thing David did was get Netflix on our Wii, which we love. About 3 weeks ago David put on a Spider man cartoon from Netflix on for Dutch to watch and apparently it was love at first episode. He loves Spider man and it makes David so happy and excited. Although I do have a few concerns, first is that Dutch has told me that he wants a spider to bite him so that he can be like Spider man, we have brown recluse's and black widow's around here so you can understand what my concern with that one is, second, he wants to buy the Spider man suit so he can climb on the walls and ceiling, my concern with this is the level of disappointment that he will feel when he realizes getting the Spider man suit won't actually make him be able to do that and third he wants the web shooter so we can swing from the webs, same concern as before, he'll be so let down to know that he can't actually swing from spider webs. Now my favorite things about Spider man replacing Thomas are, one, the toys are so much cheaper, a few Spider man figurines and he's set, no tracks and no friends to go along with it, second the cartoons are more entertaining and third his Dad thinks it's so cool. So our Thomas & Friends days are over, at least for awhile, I don't think that we have really seen the last of them but for now his life revolves around Spider man. Talli is getting to be quite the little climber. She has figured out how to climb into her bumbo, although once she gets into it she can't figure out how to turn around and sit correctly in it. She can climb up onto Maylee's little chair and sit down correctly all by herself. And she can climb up onto my dishwasher and "help" me unload the dishes.

I finally brought the kids old walker in the house and cleaned it off and Talli loves it. She can walk really well behind it. She pushes it around the living room until she runs in the wall and then she gives up and finds something else to do. I can't believe this little girl is already able to walk around while pushing a toy. She is getting big so fast. As cute and adorable as she looks pushing her walker, I kind of want to sit her down and not let her stand up. I'm not ready for her to be a big girl, she's still my baby. She is quite proud of herself though, she'll try and let go so she can clap for herself. She is her biggest fan!

Talli is really starting to get busy. She has learned how to climb and now I find her hanging out on Maylee's toddler bed all day long. She loves to crawl around and stand up on it, freaking her mother out. And yep she's standing up and letting go now too. She lets go and claps her hands, so proud of herself. She has also discovered the toilet, I so don't love this new discovery. Tonight I found her eating toilet paper out of the toilet. So absolutely disgusting. I might not be able to let her give me kisses for a few days. She is an awesome little eater and will eat anything you give her, spicy, blan, cold, hot, lumpy, smooth, she has no preference just as long as it is food. She is still a momma's girl and I love love love it. When David has the kids on Saturdays, during my long runs, he says she crawls into our room and sits at the end of the bed crying, so he'll put her up there to show her that I am not there and she crawls to my pillow and lays on it and cries. So sweet! She is a sweet, fun, lovable baby and I am so in love with her.
