Eventful Week...

This has been a very eventful week for our family. First off, Maylee started sleeping in a big girl bed last Sunday. I was very sad to move her out of the crib/cage but she finally mastered climbing out and it was as if she wasn't even in a crib anymore with how often she was escaping, I mean climbing out. So we bumped her up and she has been doing awesome. She doesn't come out of her room anymore then she did in the crib and she is in love with her big girl bed. Plus it didn't seem fair to keep Talli in the uncomfortable orphan crib if Maylee was ready for a big girl bed. So we made the switch last Sunday, now I know Talli can't talk but if she could I think she would be saying, "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for getting me out of that orphan crib." She sleeps so much better and longer in the more comfortable, luxurious crib.
Talli has been army crawling for awhile now, sitting up on her own when put into the sitting position but she just hasn't been able to get into the sitting position by herself. Thursday morning I heard her chatting away in her crib and when I went to get her guess who was sitting up all by herself. I was so proud of her. Now she crawls around and sits up when ever she wants. She is still army crawling, however, she is showing more interest in trying to crawl on her knees. However it takes way to long to get to where ever she wants to go and she gives up after about 10 seconds and goes right back to the army crawling, I mean why fix what isn't broken, right.
Then yesterday I had the wonderful opporunity to take Dutch and Maylee to a friends house for Dutch's preschool playgroup. So it was just Talli and I for 3 1/2 hours, so we went shopping. I forget how much easier it is to do things with one baby. We made our way over to JoAnns, where I actually got to browse and shop at my own pace. While I was waiting in line for the fabric to get cut, I put Talli down into a huge bin that I was buying for her to play in. She thought it was great and was having a blast when all of the sudden she grabbed the side and pulled herself up into standing position. Way to go Talli! She thought she was pretty hot stuff and enjoyed being cheered for because she just kept pulling herself up over and over. She's getting too big too fast.
Dutch wanted to color yesterday so I pulled out the crayons and paper and let him go to town. After a little while he came and found me and told me he wanted to show me his picture. He then described it to me, "This is the sky and the clouds and down here are the cars driving on the road and this is my name." It's his first picture that he colored that wasn't random scribbles and could actually be made to look like something. I was so proud of him. It's one of those pictures that I'll keep forever.

I'm sitting at table, Maylee runs into the kitchen sees a house fly and in a very loud, high pitch, squeal of excitement says, "A Butterfly, he's my best friend."

Playing Catch Up

I have NOT been very good about keeping up on our family journal aka blog. And I really hate that, I love going back and reading stories from a few years ago that I had forgotten about and now I haven't been documenting everything nearly as well. Three kids has really throw me off balance, I'm adjusting better now that Talli is older but wow, when people said three is the hardest I really never even could have imaged the depth of that statement. I know it's not that way for everyone but it has been for me. However I love all three of my children so very much, and I'm grateful that I have them all in my life. And by the way Talli has cut her first tooth at eight months. So here are some recent pictures of our life.
The kids all looked super cute a couple of Sundays ago and I tried to get a good picture of all three, it took several tries but I finally got one with everyone some what looking. Dutch was really the only one fully participating. I still can't get my kids to wear clothes, it's only underwear for them and its freezing, I don't know how they stand it. We decorated for Christmas the night before we went home for Thanksgiving, I wanted to be able to come home to a decorated house. While we were decorating, I looked over at Dutch and saw him getting all dressed up and festive. Talli getting into everything, now that she is crawling. Although she is still army crawling, so not only does she have red knees, but she has a red belly too. Pretty funny. Dutch has become a huge fan of his superman cape lately and can be found fighting bad guys and monsters around the house. Dutch still falls asleep anywhere. Maylee diapering her baby.

Thanksgiving

David and I had been looking forward to going home for Thanksgiving for awhile. It felt like we hadn't been home in forever so we couldn't wait to go. We got to Fawn's house Tuesday afternoon, hung out and let the kids play. Wednesday morning I talked David into going jogging with me since we actually could go without pushing strollers, it was a great run, but now David is convinced that I'm too fast for him. Fawn took us out to see Tangled at the movies. I am in LOVE. I have to say that it is my new favorite Disney movie. I really think it adds up to Beauty and the Beast to me. I loved it. I'm convinced that I will buy it opening day and make Maylee watch it every day until it is her favorite, haha. Fawn and I hiked my beloved Camelback mountain Thursday morning. It was an awesome hike, I love how much running has helped my speed on the mountain. Thursday we spent the day with David's family, we had excellent food and great company. I love Thanksgiving, it's always been my favorite holiday. I love having all the family get together and now being married it's even better being able to celebrate with both families every year.
Thursday night we headed over to my parents house. We got there late, close to the kids bedtime but they were so excited to be there bedtime didn't happen right away. It was Talli's first time around dogs (of her awareness, anyways) and she thought they were the funniest things in the world. Talli's has been army crawling but not really fast or super far, well Sandy was enough motivation to get the girl going. She couldn't leave that dog alone the first night, Sandy wasn't too sure what to think about the tiny human tugging on her and trying to suck on her paws but she's a good dog and put up with it, for a few minutes anyways. Then Talli discovered Gracie and Moose, dogs littler then her. I wish I would have got my video camera out, because the faces Talli was making was priceless but I'm lame and I didn't, just know it was the funniest thing EVER.
Friday Mom was awesome and stayed home and watched six grandkids so we could all go hike the mountain with Noah and his girlfriend Michelle. The hike was again awesome, I love that mountain and it was fun going with most of my family. Then David and I wanted to take everyone over to see the Frys on Tatum and Shea. This store is amazing, its a grocery store that has valet and covered parking, need I say more. I have never been to such a luxurious grocery store before, it's pretty awesome. Dutch and Maylee had a blast playing with cousins all week and I had a blast not having to entertain them at all for four days. Saturday was Thanksgiving dinner with my side of the family. But first thing first, I had to go running, this time I talked Mom into going with me. But since she's not a runner I convinced her to ride a bike beside me while I ran 10 miles. It was fun to have her to chat with the whole way. Then off to dinner at my parents house. It was fun to see my family especially my favorite cousin, Lisha. It was was great week and a huge bummer to have to come home. Only two and half more weeks until we get to go back for Christmas, YAY!
A few pictures from our visit...
Fawn took us to Chick-fil-a one day and Talli just looked so cute and relaxed in the highchair. David and his Mom David and the kids playing rock band.

Random things about the life with Maylee:
*The other day I realized that it had been a couple of days and I hadn't wiped Maylee from her going poo. The girl is a poo and runner. I sometimes go in the bathroom find poo in the toilet and wonder how long Maylee has been running around without her bum being wiped. Gross, crazy girl!
*Maylee will be doing something that she absoluetly should not be doing, like for instance picking up Talli and then dropping her on her face because she is to heavy. David a few times has said, Maylee stop doing that (whatever it is she was doing at the time), Maylee replies in the most adorable, high-pitch, sing song, innocent little voice, "OK Daddy". David knows she isn't listening at all so he says it again, Maylee stop doing that. Maylee gives the same reply, "OK Daddy." and continues to do what she was doing. Doesn't even miss a beat, by saying OK, it just rolls off her tongue. So David has occasionally said, Maylee do you want a spanken, Maylee replies "Yes Daddy", at which point David and I are both trying not to laugh, even though we are beyond frustrated with her. So David has given her a spanken (not hard, doesn't hurt, just trying to get her attention.) to which she turns around and laughs at David and continues to do what he's been asking her not to do. Seriously, what do we do with this child.
*Maylee's new favorite thing to do is to pretend that she is a puppy. There are some days where she will not utter a single word for hours, she will only bark. When a puppy barks that much I think it needs to be put outside :) The other night while we were having FHE she barked the entire twinkle twinkle little star song.
*It's November it was 60 degrees outside all last week and Maylee stayed in her swimsuit all day every day. She only takes it off to change into her other swimsuit, although she calls it a swimsoup. Pretty cute, but the girl must be freezing.
*After every time Maylee goes to the bathroom she insists on getting a new pair of panties. She has about 15 pairs of panties and yet they're all "dirty" every two or three days. I started hiding them for awhile which was working pretty good and then I get lazy or forget and put them in her dresser drawer and then she has no clean panties again.
*Maylee is OBSESSED with cotton balls. I can't even begin to describe the level of obsession this girl has with cotton balls. But in Maylee's world they are not just cotton balls, they are babies. And the problem with cotton ball babies is they are very tiny and get lost easy. And when Maylee can't find her babies the entire house knows about it. She sleeps with them, pushes them in her stroller, covers them with blankets, eats with them, takes them to the store with us, they are every where. And occasionally if Maylee leaves them to close to Talli, she tries to eat them. Then we have soaking wet cotton ball babies.
*If you tell Maylee that something is a baby she instantly falls in love with it, no matter what it is. The other day Maylee and Dutch came in the house freaking out because there was a cricket on the back patio. So I went out there to look and it and it was just a little tiny one, so I said oh guys it's just a baby. For the next 1/2 hour Maylee was on her hands and knees talking to that baby cricket and falling in love with it.
*The annoying house flies that we all try to kill are referred to as "butterflies" by Maylee and she just tries to catch them, she follows them all over the house and thinks they're so beautiful. The other night after we had put the kids to bed David and I were sitting on the couch watching TV and there were three flies up on the ceiling, we joked that they were trying to get away from Maylee.
Talli has hit my favorite age. I love 6 months to 18 months, they are seriously learning something new everyday and yet they are so sweet and innocent that the tantrums aren't too bad. She is so much fun right now, I just can't get enough of her. Dutch, Maylee and I were playing Uno on Tuesday night and Talli really wanted to chew on a card. So she finally decided if I wasn't going to give her one she was going to get it herself and she started army crawling. So cute. She's been holding out on me because she is awesome at it. Then this morning I put her in bed with David and I, she was in a super good mood and she started clapping, love it. I love all these new things. Dutch and Maylee have a new favorite game that they play, they pretend to be the Mommy and Daddy and apparently as a Mommy and Daddy they have to stay in Talli's crib (which I'm guessing is their house) it's pretty cute and they play so well together that I don't even mind them crawling in and out of Talli's crib all day, at least as long as she isn't in it. And I'm guessing that these pictures of Dutch playing barbies might come back to get him one day. :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While Dutch was sitting at the table working on his alphabet book being such a good boy... Maylee was in the living room using their drawing paper as a sidewalk/red carpet/dance floor. All three kids were playing trains the other day. Dutch gets a little frustrated with Talli if she is sitting too close to the track because she just rips them apart. I have a feeling his frustration is only going to increase the better she gets at crawling.

Dutch got a bigger bike for his birthday from Grandma. He is just so tall that he outgrew the little one so quickly. He loves his new bike and he looks so much better riding it, he fits it now. So I stripped Dutch's old bike down and painted it pink for Maylee. I didn't think she'd be able to ride it for a while, I thought it might take a while to pick it up but she is doing awesome. She looks so big on it too. So I took the kids to the park the other day to let them ride. Their favorite place to ride is on the basketball courts, which is great for me because then they never ride to far. Talli and I were there too.

I have been wanting/dreaming of decorating a little girls room since I found out I was pregnant with Maylee. But then Dutch and Maylee had to share a room, so I had to decorate half and half. Finally when we moved into this house in August, Dutch got his own room and the girls are in a room together. My time for decorating a girls room had finally come. And then I couldn't come up with any ideas on what I wanted to do with it and I didn't want to do just anything. So I just kept waiting for the perfect idea to finally present itself to me. Well it finally did. Jenny made Talli the cutest quilt when she was born and I instantly fell in love with the fabric and colors. Hobby Lobby still had the fabric (enough to make Maylee a quilt too) and the ideas started coming. The quilt that Jenny made. (The picture really doesn't do the colors justice.)
The girls have a black dresser in their room that I just haven't been in love with for awhile, not to mention that fact that I just felt done with black furniture. So I decided to redo all their furniture, going with the main colors from the quilt, green and pink. I have a before picture of the dresser and the mirror, but I can't get it off of my camera. The mirror was all white before. And I relined the baskets with matching fabric from the quilts. The original liner was plain brown, again the picture is stuck on my camera. This is all that I have done so far. But I am loving how it is all coming together. Right now we have two cribs in the girls room, which is kind of hard to decorate around, but Maylee is just not ready to move to a big girl bed. So her quilt won't really be super useful, look wise, until she moves to a big girl bed. Who knows maybe one day we'll trust her in a big girl bed :)

Half Marathon

I ran my first half Marathon today. I have never enjoyed running, it's always been my least favorite form of exercise but after I had Talli I decided I was going to conquer running. I have been saying for a few years that I wanted to run a Marathon but I never actually believed I could or would do it. But now I believe I can. I started running this summer with David when he was off for his school break (about 3 months after I had Talli) and I could barely do a mile without having to stop and walk. Then I finally was able to increase to four miles and I was maintaining that pretty well. Then for some odd reason Jadie and I ran 10 miles one day while we were camping on the beach in California. And that day helped me to over come the mental aspect of running. And let me just say running is all MENTAL! After I ran with Jadie that day I truly believed that I could run. So I kept at it and I finally got up to 7 miles on my treadmill. But a treadmill is BoRiNg! So I hooked up with one of my friends here that is a runner and we started running three days a week together. She was training for a ragnar and I was training for a half marathon. I decided I wanted to run a half before I go for the full. Two weeks ago was Hailey's ragnar and she asked if I would pace her on her night run so she wouldn't have to go by herself. Just in case it didn't work out I did my normal 7 mile run and then ran an additional 4.2 miles with Hailey. And it felt awesome. On Dutch's birthday we ran our longest run of 10.52 miles and I felt great afterward and even felt like I could have kept going. So I was pretty pumped for my half, knowing that I could actually do it. So yesterday after school, David, the kids and I drove up to St. George for the big race. We got a motel and had a fun time as a family hanging out Friday night in St. George. We went out to dinner and then took the kids to see the temple. Maylee is in love with temple, every time we ask her where she is going to get married she says, in her darling little voice, "In the Temple!" She loved the St. George Temple and bawled when it was time to go.
At dinner: Dutch took this picture and I have to say he didn't a good job! We finally had to separate the kids after they got a little to excited at dinner. St. George Temple The kids loved staying in a motel. Probably because they were allowed to jump on the beds. Although it definitely confirmed that Maylee is not ready for a big girl bed. She would not stay in bed, she kept getting up and looking out the window and being well... Maylee! I finally got her to go to sleep by scratching her back and playing with her hair. But then she slept in bed with me, while David got to sleep with Dutch. Maylee is still a rough kid to sleep with, she's all over the place, she finally fell off the bed in the middle of the night. So I didn't get the best sleep before my run, but that's life with three kids, I guess. We woke up this morning nice and early, got our room packed up and headed to the meeting place for the bus ride to the start of the trail. It was dark and cold. I said goodbye to everyone and told them I'd see them at the finish line. I told David that I would actually rather be running then staying with the kids. The two older ones were grumpy from being woken up at 5:30 in the morning. I met some people on the bus, got super excited for my run and then missed the start by a couple of minutes because the line to the bathroom was about a mile long. The run started out great. I felt great, the view was beautiful up in Snow Canyon and the energy was so high being around so many excited runners. It was a great experience and I really felt awesome the entire time. From mile 10 to 12 was a little long, I started anticipating seeing David and the kids at the finish line. When I hit mile marker 12, something lit inside of me and I was able to really push myself. It was so much fun to come running into the school, run around the track and hear and see all the people there cheering for everyone. It was a great experience and I can't wait to do it again. My actual time was 1:52:57 with the pace of 8:37. I was very excited about that time. The time shows 2 minutes off in the picture but that's because I started two minutes late, but lucky for me I had the chip on my shoe and was able to get the actual time from start to finish. I loved it!
