Cousins
Some of my greatest childhood memories our playing with my cousins. My bothers, Stormy and I absolutely loved our cousins. We would get so super excited when they would come to visit or we would go visit. I can remember us waiting
out by the road watching every car that would
past by hoping that with each car it would be
our cousins arriving (my aunt Lisa was always
late, so we would get overly anxious). Anyways
those are some of my most cherished memories.
Well last Sunday David and I went over to my
parents house for dinner and Seth and Tara
were there with their boys. Now I just love
watching Dutch play with Maxx and Jace because
he just loves them so much. While we were at our parents house we just open the back door and let the boys go out to play. After awhile I couldn't see them out the window anymore so I went out to see what they were up to. And
I found them
playing on a trailer that my dad has out there. And it just melted my heart to see them out there playing together and having so much fun. It just makes me so happy that Dutch has cousins his age that he can play with and hopefully one day these days of him playing with his cousins will be some of his best memories as well.
Then after the boys came in they were all playing in the house together. At my parents house they have a built in entertainment center I guess you could call it. Anyways it has a little sit type thing in front and then the fireplace the TV are right there. My Dad has flat screen TV
and the boys are always playing up there. And we are constantly having to tell them to not touch the TV. But then Jace and Dutch kept trying to see behind it and it just looked so cute watching them tip toe to get a good look back behind there.
It was getting late and Dutch was so dirty from playing with the boys and so I said "well it looks like you need a bath." Apparently I said the magic word. I had no idea the effect that word would have on Maxx and Jace. The instance I said bath, Maxx said I want to take and bath and then he just started striping and Jace then joined right in. So I got to give the boys a bath. I then
got a shower myself. Those boys soaked me pretty good with all the splashing that three little boys playing in the tub can do. But it was a lot of fun. I just love my nephews so much and I am so glad that Dutch gets to live near his cousins. I truly hope that he will be able to always have a great relationship with them and that they can be the best of friends.
Gardening
Over the past couple of weekends David's Dad has been bringing us truck loads of dirt to fill the retaining wall in our backyard. After a bunch of truck loads and a lot of shoveling on Davids part we finally got it full of dirt, its only taken close to a year since he finished the wall but hey at least its finally done. So once all the dirt got put in we got our garden planted for this year. We planted tomatoes, squash, onions and bell peppers. We have no idea how the onions or bell peppers will do here in Arizona so we only planted one bush each and we figure if they grow and we actually get some veggies off of them then we will go ahead and plant more next year. Last year we planted just tomatoes and I have to say I absolutely loved having home grown tomatoes (I am a little bit of a tomato freak, they one of my favorite snacks). So this year we wanted to expand our garden a little bit. But the cutest thing of all was watching Dutch help his Dad. He just loves "helping" us out and it is so cute to watch him try to imitate us. So while David was shoveling dirt we got Dutch a little wheel barrow and shovel so he can help out. Lets just say that he wasn't super helpful but it sure was cute.
Now we have come to understand a big mistake that we made while planting our garden. We let Dutch "help" us dig the holes for the plants and move the dirt.

So now trying to make Dutch understand that we don't need to dig holes in the garden anymore is quite a challenge. Every time he goes outside now, he heads straight for the garden with his shovel. So hopefully he won't do to much damage and our plants will survive.

Where their names came from!
I saw this on Brittany's blog and I loved it. So I am going to take her challenge and let you all know how my kids got their names.
Dutch Clay
David and I were on out on our third date, while we were driving to where ever it was we were going he got a call from his old mission companion. He took the call and I did what everyone does while someone is on the phone, listened in to his side of the conversation. When he got off the phone he told me that it was his favorite companion from his mission, Dutch. Right then and there I fell in love with that name. I had no idea at this point that I was even going to marry David, but I decided right then that my first born son would be named Dutch, I just thought it was too cool of a name to pass up. It took my entire pregnancy to convince David to use the name Dutch, he wasn't too sure about it, but I won out in the end and that is how Dutch got his name.
As for his middle name, David is actually a Jr. His dad is David Clay Lazenby and my honey is David Clay Lazenby Jr. As for myself I am not big on Jr. and the thirds. Its just to confusing. So there was no way I was going to have a third. It gets confusing with David and his dad, I didn't want to add another one. So I just compromised and Dutch got his middle name Clay, which I wanted him to have anyways.
Maylee Jane
Coming up with her name was super hard for me. I was so sure that I was going to have another boy that I never even thought of little girl names. So when I was told it was a girl, finding just the right name was really hard for me. I wanted her to have her own original name. The first name we picked out was Ella. But then I realized that it had been in the top 10 most popular names for the last several years so that name was out. Then I fell in love with the name Olivia, again I found out just how popular that name was becoming so we ruled that out. I went through every name in the book, I just couldn't find anything I like. Then one day the name Maylee just came to my mind and I instantly fell in love. It wasn't in the baby name book, so I thought I was making it up and she would be the first with that name. I have now heard of several other Maylee's but that is ok with me because I just love her name.
As for her middle name Jane, that is my moms middle name. When David and I found out I was pregnant we both agreed that if it was a girl we for sure wanted her to have my moms middle name. At first David really wanted her first name to be Jane. I just couldn't fall in love with it enough as a first name. But when we came up with Ella we were actually going to have her have a double first name... Ella Jane... but Ella was just to popular so we just decided to use Jane as her middle name.

Handsome Husband
I just wanted to take a minute and brag about what a handsome husband I have. This is a very recent picture of David that I took and it is my favorite. We were over at his parents house when I snapped this photo of him and I love it. I have it hanging at my desk so I can look at it all the time and I just wanted every one out there to see just how cute my honey is. I don't say this enough and I know I need to say it more often so here goes. David is such a great husband. He treats me so good and he would do anything for me. No matter how crabby I got with my pregnancy David was so great to not say anything and just keep on loving me. David is also amazing when it come to building things. And he will build anything I ask of him. Its one of his many talents. My favorite catalog ever is pottery barn but its way too expensive to actually buy out of there. So I pick the things I want and then David builds them. When we first moved into our house I found this bed in pottery barn that I really really wanted so... David built it. Then I found this adorable office layout that I fell in love with so... David built it for me. I love doing my coupon sense and buying lots of super cheap foods but we were running out of room to store it so... David expanded our pantry. Its a joke between David and I, David always says he can do anything... but its true, he can. Ladies if your husbands aren't handymans then you should be way envious of mine. He absolutely loves doing things for me even if its just simply hanging a picture. And I appreciate him so much. He is also just a great daddy. He loves our children and is so good with him. In fact Dutch is 100% a daddy's boy. If dad is in the room then he has no need for mom. In fact he loves his dad so much that I finally told David that I get Maylee, I want her to be all mine since he gets Dutch... but I am betting that she will be a daddy's girl, he just has a way with them.
