Glass Slippers

I needed to run to Walmart yesterday, Maylee wanted to wear her "glass slippers". I figured this was one of those "choose your battle moments", so I let her pick out what shoes she wanted to wear and I just went with it. You know that plastic princess shoes that click really loud when a little girl walks/runs in them on a tile floor. Well I'm pretty sure everyone in Walmart could hear Maylee "clicking". Some people smiled, one lady scoffed, and I just enjoyed the moment.

Lately...

To be quite honest life hasn't been extra fabulous lately. I really feel as if I have nothing to even share. David's rotation has him gone constantly. He is working Mon-Sun. And when he is home he is tried and just wants to veg and watch TV. I'm burnt out of whiny kids, doing bed routine alone, well... pretty much doing everything by myself. I'm ready for a break. But with feeling burnt out, the kids and are still having fun moments and I guess that's what I need to focus on, instead of focusing on never seeing my husband and never having any help with the kids.

Dutch & Maylee enjoyed putting a puzzle together. I enjoyed watching them playing nicely together.

Talli is at an adorable stage right now. Everything she does is so cute. She is starting to say some words. Her vocab consists of:

She loves to dress up and wear Maylee's princess shoes. She is obsessed with shoes in general. She puts on any shoes she can find. She enjoys playing kitchen in her bedroom. She can constantly be found standing on the kitchen table, the computer desk, the end tables, the arm of the couch and pretty much anything else she is capable of climbing up.

We had a pretty good rain storm last week that the kids enjoyed playing in. And I LOVE to sit outside and watch the rain fall and listen to the thunder. Maylee loves to dress up and change clothes. The other day she made up her very own style. A blanket with a belt, pretty cute stuff! So even if we only have each other the kids and I are still having some good times.

We went to Arizona for David to take his Medical board exams. He has been preparing for these tests for the last two years. The hard studying started the six weeks prior to the test. He left the house every morning at seven thirty and came home anywhere between 9-10. The kids only saw him if they happened to be awake before he left in the morning. It was a long 6 weeks, but we survived. David took two tests and each test was 8 hours each. My brain would be fried. I'm so proud of him. I can't believe he has already passed his first two years of medical school, taken his boards and started rotations. His first rotation he is with a Family Practice. Everyone told us that 3rd year is a breeze, so easy, so fun. So NOT the case so far. David is working with a Dr. who does family practice concierge style. This Dr. only has 400 patients and in order to be his patient you have to pay an annual fee of 1500 dollars on top of all your visit expenses. On top of being a very busy family dr. he is also does rounds at 3 different hospitals and is the Chief of Medicine at one of those hospitals. David will learn ALOT from him. The Dr. is super nice and David enjoys working with him but he is definitely not going easy on him. He truly believes in sink or swim and David is trying very hard and doing very well at swimming. There is one other student doing a rotation at this practice and they have to split up all the patients that are in the hospital. David right now has 5 patients in the hospital. He has to do rounds every morning for his patients, which means he works every Sat. and Sun. this month. He is very busy. Although I do believe he was pretty excited to text me his first day and let me know he was going to be late because he was stuck at the hospital. I think he has waited the last 6 years to be able to say that. It's very strange for me to try and image David at a doctors office, being the doctor and taking care of patients. Oh how I wish I could be a fly on those walls. I know he is going to be an amazing doctor and I am so proud of him for making it to this point. I'm excited for these next two years as David will get to work in all different specialties and figure out what it is he really is passionate about and wants to do for the rest of his life.

While we were in Arizona the kids and I had a blast. Stormy was staying at my parents house while we were there and it was so fun to play with her for the week. I helped Stormy make a blanket for her bed which happens to be copied exactly from the one on my bed (more on my bedroom later). She saw mine, fell in love and wanted one. So we made it. We spent a couple of really late nights working on it but we got it finished and it turned out gorgeous. We had fun playing with Tara and her kids. Maylee and Dutch are always in heaven when they are with there cousins. One day the kids and I, Stormy and Mom & Dad went to Wet-n-wild. Apparently we went on the busiest day of the year and we had no idea. The first 200 people got in free via the Phoenix Suns, and it was also get your friend in free day with season passes. It took over an hour to go on one slide. It was fun and miserable all at the same time. But David, Dutch and I went again on Saturday with most of David's siblings and it was about 1/4 of the people there and practically no lines. We had a blast that day. We had a really fun trip, it's been a long time that I have gone to Arizona and not been ready to come back to my own house but this trip I was definitely not ready to come home. I'm super lame and hardly took any pictures.

Check out David's hair. He didn't want to take time to cut it while he was studying for boards, so he waited until after his tests. Lets just say his hair grows freakishly fast. Here is a close up of it. Mom & I trying to take a picture that we both like our selves in. Almost impossible :) And then David & I trying. Sunday night we had a huge family dinner at Lazenby's (one of the things we miss the most about living away). Then afterwards we watched fireworks. Dutch loved the fireworks but plugged his ears the whole time, Maylee loved the purple ones and Talli kept getting distracted by her stroller. Here's Talli throwing a pretty cute fit.

Talli was so tired from swimming and not sleeping the whole week she passed out sitting up on Grandmas couch.

Maylee is obsessed with my parents ice. Our ice maker doesn't work at our house. So when ever she's goes to Mimi & Grandpa's house she only eats crushed ice. OBSESSED!

And last but not least, the most exciting thing from our trip. Dutch learned how to swim without his life jacket on. Grandma & I asked him if he wanted to try swimming without it, I really thought he'd say no but he surprise me and said yes. He took his jacket off and swam across the pool no problem. He is a pro now. He swims so good. I can't believe that he just did it. The next day he was even jumping off the big rock into the water and swimming to the side no problem. I'm so proud of him.

A never forget moment...

Maylee was sitting down for lunch one day and she said she wanted to say the prayer, this is her prayer...

"Dear Heavenly Father,....(pause)... Soooo, I'm really busy right now.... um...., in the name of Jesus Christ Amen."

I'm pretty sure I almost peed my pants from laughing so hard. I never realized that I could say that in a Prayer. I'm guessing that Heavenly Father thought that was pretty funny too.
