Me at 26 weeks!

Well I haven't been good about taking pictures of myself during this pregnancy. This is actually the first profile picture I have with her. I am 26 weeks pregnant here. This was actually taken two weeks ago. Sorry the picture is a little blurry. But I felt like our little girl needs to know that I am not completely bitter about gaining the pregnancy weight again. :) Its been harder on me this time around, but I really am adjusting, its just taken about 6 months to do so.

Our Pantry

Well its been awhile since I have updated and a lot has been going on lately. A couple of weeks ago David was studying like crazy for finals and when David is home Dutch thinks that he needs to be with his Daddy and trying to keep him away from David is very hard to do and it results in tears the entire time. So the Saturday before finals I decided to go ahead and completely empty out my pantry and reorganize. I figured it was a great way to keep Dutch entertained and still be able to get something done that I needed to do. Dutch had a ball playing with all the food in there, that was now all over my kitchen floor. However, in the process of reorganizing David came in and said something to the effect of, "wouldn't you love if the pantry was bigger so you could fit more stuff." ... Duhhhh, of course I would. Which leads us to now. On Monday night David had to work late so Dutch and I went to see the temple lights with my family. Dutch and I ended up getting back a couple of hours after David got home. Well... while we were gone he tore down the wall in our pantry so the he could make it bigger. Hard at work!!! So again everything that was in our pantry is now all over my kitchen counters and my house is covered in a layer of dust from all the construction. David promised it would only take two days. Five days later and we are still living in a huge mess and it looks like it is still going to be awhile before he gets it all done. He underestimated the size of this project. But he has done a great job so far and I am very excited to have a larger pantry. David did manage to get his brother Craig to help out one night. And of course Dutch is more than willingly to "help" in anyway that he can. This is David trying to hang drywall and hold Dutch. (Dutch has not been happy having to leave Daddy alone while he works). David is actually standing up on a stool holding drywall over his head with one hand and obviously holding Dutch in the other. On Dec. 9th was Dutch's cousins, Ashley's, birthday party. We all met over at his Aunt Dawn's and Uncle's Jeremy's to help celebrate. I don't know want it was, maybe it was just seeing all of his cousins running around and playing, but it made Dutch decide he was going to walk. I was thrilled, he walked all over their house that night and he hasn't stopped since. It is so nice to finally have him walking. I was getting really tired of the dirty, black hands from crawling everywhere. However walking enters us into a whole new world. Dutch has always loved to have books read to him. Now that he can walk though, he walks around the house with a book in his hand whining until we finally read it to him. We now read books all day long. He brings me a book about 50 times a day it feels like. But I am very happy that he likes to read. Here he is bringing me another book! And now that he can walk he feels it is very important to spend all of his time outside. He loves to play in the garage and in my car. So he stands outside the garage door and cries and cries until we take him out there. It was cute the first couple of times, but a couple hundred times later, I am getting sick of playing in the garage. Although since I love to read so much as well, we do spend about 45 minutes each day playing in the car, he plays and I read. Its a great compromise. One of the cutest things that he does now that he walks is after his bath he doesn't like to be held and dried off. Now he wants to stand there and get dried off and quickly as possible and then he escapes. He loves to walk around naked after his bath. It is super cute, because he has such a cute bum, however he has peed a few times. So I can't let him walk for very long. We had the Lazenby family Christmas party a week ago. It was a ton of fun. Santa Clause came and we all got to sit on his lap and tell him what we want for Christmas. Dutch was terrified of him and cried the entire time on his lap. We all then got matching pajamas, which we all dressed up in and took a ton of pictures. Here Dutch is in his new Christmas pajamas. Dutch just looks so cute in his. I love the hat but we were only able to keep that on him for about a minute. And Dutch and I in our new pajamas. My sixth month pregnant belly didn't quite fit in the pajama top, that is why I have a white shirt underneath and my blue shirt is so short. Here is a picture of David with all of his brothers and Dad. I love having pictures of just the boys. They always are having so much fun together. Moms Play

Last weekend Mom was in a Christmas play that her Stake put on. And I just want to say that she did so excellent. She was so fun to watch, David even made the comment afterwards that you can tell she is good because she makes the audience feel the emotion that she is feeling. And while watching her it really made me realize how much I love her eyes, they are so full of expression. After the show, David, Dutch and made sure to get a picture with the Star of the Show. Love you Mom.

My quilt!

When David and I found out that we were having a little girl, I decided that I wanted to make her a quilt. And I wanted to try doing a piece quilt. Davids cousin Brittany quilts and her and I have talked about it a lot, so I decided I would give it a shot. I went to JoAnn's picked out a beginners quilting book, brought the fabric and just started. It ended up being a lot easier than I thought it would. However it is extremely time consuming especially when you have a little Dutch man that doesn't allow for such activities, so I have only been able to quilt during nap times which is why it took me so long to finally finish it. So anyone out there who wants to try quilting I totally suggest it, it's actually a lot of fun. I only had one really bad experience while making this quilt. David was gone to school, Dutch was down for a nap, so of course I was quilting. I was feeding the fabric through my sewing machine and when I pulled my hand out, the sewing needle was sticking all the way through my finger. It went right through my nail and was just about popping out on the other side of my finger. And you know how your thoughts just race, well the first thing I thought as I was looking at the needle sticking through my finger was... should I go to the emergency room, do I call David and let him pull it out and then it occurred to me that I just needed to pull it out myself. So I ran out to our garage and grabbed a pair of pilers and I had to get a really tight grip and then I pulled it out of my finger. It was so awful, I don't handle blood and situations like that very well and having to pull it out myself was just horrible. I had to sit down for about 15 minutes afterwards because I thought for sure I was going to pass out. But I ended up being ok, thank goodness and now I have a nice hole through my finger nail where the needle went through. Luckily the quilt didn't get any blood on it and now it is all finished. I feel like I'm bragging a little bit, but I love it. It ended up turning out so good, well at least for me. There are a few mistakes and I would never want to show it to a Pro Quilter for fear they would point them out to me, but our little girl will never notice and I just think it turned out adorable.

This year like every year David and I are lucky enough that we get to spend Thanksgiving with both of our families. Lucky for us my family celebrates Thanksgiving on the Saturday after and Davids celebrates on Thursday. I was so excited for Thanksgiving this year because Dutch is finally old enough that he gets to get the good food and he loves mashed potatoes and gravy so I thought it would be great. Well it ended up that at Davids parents house Dutch fell asleep about 20 minutes before dinner was served and slept for close to two hours. He completely missed the dinner and by the time he woke up he was so distracted playing with his cousins that we couldn't get him to eat a single thing. On the night of Thanksgiving we came home and set up all of our Christmas decorations. Lucky for us Dutch still has not shown a lot of interest in our Christmas tree. He wasn't tried pulling off any of the decorations, he pretty much just ignores it. Which makes me a little sad that he isn't excited but I think I would rather him ignore it, than destroy it. The only thing he really truly enjoys is a playskool nativity set that his Grandma Lazenby got for him last year. There is a button on top and when it is pushed it plays silent night. Dutch loves to push buttons and he keeps it going all day long. Our Christmas tree looks pretty good except for the fact that we have to decorate it from two feet up. Sunday Mornings

David and I don't have church until one o'clock on Sundays. We really don't like going to a late ward because Dutch is up early anyways so we don't get to sleep in and then it messes with his nap times. But we have discovered one of our favorite things to do with Dutch on Sunday morning to pass time until church. We build a huge fort all over all living room with blankets and the couch cushions and Dutch's toys. Dutch loves crawling in and out of the fort. We can play in that forever with him. Its so much fun.

Halloween

We are about to get started, Dutch is still eating. Here's Dutch loving his sucker. For family home evening on the Monday before Halloween we bought a pumpkin to carve with Dutch. I tried my hardest to get Dutch to put his hand in the pumpkin and play with the seeds but he just wasn't interested. What he did love was the sucker that his dad gave him. Once he had that sucker in his hand nothing else mattered. We tried handing him a handful of the pumpkin seeds and pulp but he thought it was gross and didn't like having his hand dirty. For Halloween our ward had a Trunk or Treat the night before. We dressed Dutch up in his adorable monkey costume (borrowed by Tara, Thanks) and he looked so cute. Although his head was a little to big for the it. He didn't really understand what was going on, when we were walking around and getting candy, until we opened up a Kit Kat bar for him to eat. He loved that. We didn't take our camera with us to the Truck or Treat because we were planning on getting all the good costume and trick or treating pictures on Halloween. We were going to take him to my parents neighborhood and let him trick or treat. However that didn't end up happening, due to the fact that Mom and I sat in a hour and a half of traffic on our way back from the mountain, uggg. But Dutch enjoyed crawling to the front door and watching the kids in our neighborhood as they came to collect their candy. The before photo! I've been saying for awhile that we need to cut becauseDutch's hair but I haven't really wanted to I didn't want him to look like a toddler yet, he's still my baby. But once David gets an idea in his head it drives him crazy not to do it right away. So on Saturday night David pulled out the clippers and we gave Dutch his very first haircut. We just set him in our bathroom sick and let him play with the water and eat crackers and he loved it. He never cried or complained one bit. I don't know if you can really see the difference in the pictures but I can certainly tell that he got a haircut. It use to be long enough for me to play with it and now I can hardly grab it, it's so short. Dutch playing in the water, happy as can be. All the hair we cut off. Now he has very short hair in the back.

Family Update

I have been considering starting a blog spot but I just kept putting it off until today when Stormy emailed me and told me I needed to get one. Everything with the family has been going really good lately. Dutch just turned one, two weeks ago. We had a big birthday bash for him here at our house. It was a lot of fun, David and I really enjoyed having all the family come over to our own home. We have spent the last 6 or 7 months getting our backyard already for Dutch's birthday party. We didn't completely finish but it is mostly done and we are very proud of it. We love spending time out there. Dutch had to get his one year old immunizations shots the day after his birthday and ever since we have been struggling with a not so fun reaction to them. Last Friday he woke up with a really high fever which he maintained for a couple of days and once his fever finally broke he then presided to get a rash all over his entire body. He broke out with that on Sunday and it still hasn't completely faded away. And needless to say he has been cranky ever since Friday. Its been a real fun week. He still isn't walking and I am not sure its going to be very soon before he does but he is finally starting to show a lot more interest in it. Last Thursday David and I got to get an ultrasound of this new baby and we found out that it is a little girl. To say I was shocked would be putting it lightly, I still am not sure if I really believe it. I was just so sure it was going to be another little boy. But I am very excited for her and I can't wait to see what she is going to look like. As of today I am halfway done with this pregnancy... Hurray! David is still going to school. His education counselor at ASU and him decided that it would probably be best if he extended his bachelor one more semester so that he can take the Kaplan test in the spring. I'm not super thrilled about it, I was so excited for him to graduate in May with his bachelors but the Kaplan test does have a 100% grantee that you will past the MCAT with a good score otherwise you get you money back. So it is definitely worth it for him to take that class. Then we will be able to apply to Medical schools in the summer and hopefully get in.
