Maylee and Dutch are as different as night and day with the rate at which they developed. We have a home video of Dutch when he was five months old and he still had never rolled over on his own. Crazy I know. And Maylee is just the opposite, she was rolling over at two months. It's so much fun to watch her learn how to do things so quickly. On Tuesday I was in the living room laying on the floor with Dutch and Maylee and I was watching Maylee play with a toy, when all of the sudden she got up on her hands and her knees. I was so excited. I couldn't believe that she was already doing that. She only did it a few times on Tuesday and only for a second or two at a time. Then yesterday she got up a few more times than Tuesday and Today she has gotten even stronger where she can stay on her hands and knees for longer than a few seconds. It's so exciting. She isn't staying up long enough to rock back and fourth but I am guessing she'll be doing that any time now. I think I am going to have a crawler here pretty soon. And she'll only be five and a half months old on Saturday. I tried to get a picture of her on her hands and knees but every time I would pull out the camera she would get very excited and would just want to stare at the silver shiny thing in my hand. And here she is working on her sitting up skill.

Cabelas

I went to Cabela's for the first time yesterday. That place is huge. I couldn't believe all the stuff they have there. Anyways the reason for our little outing was because David was being a very boring husband and dad for a Saturday. He had homework do for his online class so he spent the whole day in front of the computer working on it and kept telling me to keep Dutch away from him. Which is pretty much impossible because if Daddy is home Dutch only wants to be with him. So finally I had enough of sitting around the house, so I got the kids all ready to go and I just decided to go somewhere that Dutch could wander around and play but somewhere inside so we could stay cool. Just as I was saying goodbye to David, he said, alright I'm done, I'll come with you. So that's when we decided to go to Cabela's. And it turns out the Cabela's is a great store to go to and walk around because they have an aquarium and big stuffed animals to look at, so Dutch just loved it. Here is Dutch at the aquarium, he loved watching the fish, we watched them for a long time. Then they have all the animals there stuff and set up with the name of them right beside each animal. It is pretty cool. We tried to get a family photo but Dutch wouldn't cooperate. He didn't appreciate being picked up after he was able to walk around and explore on his own. So here is Maylee and I, so we can prove that Maylee was apart of our outing. Then there was this mechanical talking guy. He was creepy, Dutch enjoyed watching him. Dutch found a fun little fort to play in. It's actually a dog house but he won't tell him that. Although Dutch's favorite thing there was the escalators, we rode those up and down a whole bunch. But it turned out to be a fun evening. It was nice to get out of the house and still stay cool. And then we came home and ordered some pizza and watched a movie.

Tagged

Ok so I have realized that I have been tagged a couple of times, so I decided to just go ahead and get it done. This really is a fun tag. The rules are... you have to take a picture of the things below how they are right now. Now that was hard for me because I don't like people to see that my house actually gets messy but oh well, I'll let you all in on my life. Fridge... This is kind of sad but we just went grocery shopping two nights ago and this is all the food that is in here. Our closet... Ok I have to do a little explaining here. Our master closet is so tiny. It wasn't nearly big enough for mine and Davids clothes. It barely fits all of Davids clothes in it (but David does have a lot of clothes and shoes). So when we moved into our house we had to figure out a solution to our tiny closet problem, so we went to Ikea and I got a wardrobe. I love my wardrobe. So we each have our own closet, except my shoes do have a permanent resident in Davids closet. Here's David's closet... And yes that is really all that there is to the Master closet. Ridiculous! And here is my wardrobe... With the doors closed With the doors opened... Ok so the laundry room is next. This is the room that always seems so cluttered to me. It is such a tiny room and there just isn't enough space for all my cleaning supplies. Our house really has no storage. And yes it's painted orange. I love the color. Bathroom. I have chosen to do the hall bathroom because it is a lot more colorful than mine. Mine is just plain white and boring, I would love to change that one day but for now I'll just use the hall bath. It's a very tiny bathroom, well our house is just tiny, so it's hard to get a good shot, so I have to take a couple of pictures to show the whole thing. Favorite shoes... I did two different pairs because they are both my favorites for different reasons. The first pair our my favorite because I think that they are stinking cute. My mom and I found them in this little shop in Sedona and we both fell in love. However I have only worn them twice because they are so uncomfortable. The next pair are of course flip flops. Sometimes I really wish I could get out of the habit of wearing flip flops everywhere but I just can't. I love them to much. Kitchen Sink. This one I don't mind taking a picture of because I have this rule that my kitchen can't be messy. It drives me insane. I try very hard to never leave dishes in the sink. Normally the only time they pile up is when David is home. But still I try not to let that happen. Family room. This is the room where everything pretty much happens. We spend all of our time in this room. Again I had to take several pictures to get the whole room. What my kids are doing right now. Maylee is taking a nap. You can see Dutch in the living room picture with his Dad but when it was time to take his picture he was laying on the couch. He is watching his favorite movie, Cars. Self portrait. Here I am right now, while I am blogging this post. And I just had to post this last picture because this is what Maylee is now doing. She woke up while I was still working on this, so she is laying on the floor eating her toy frog. She's so cute. Ok that's it. I think I got a picture of everything that I was suppose to. Now I tag... My sister-in-laws Tara, Lacey and Jadie. I know it will probably be a while til Jadie can do it because she just moved to North Carolina today, I miss you already Jadie, but I really want to see your new house.

Not much happening

There isn't a whole lot going on in our lives right now, but I thought I would just give a quick update anyways. Maylee turned five months old last Thursday. She is getting big so fast. Today I was able to get her to sit up on her own. Well she isn't completely sitting up, she has to support herself with her hands but it is so cute. I can't believe that she is already going to be sitting on her own. She is still just scooting and rolling everywhere. She hasn't tried crawling yet, but I am curious to see if she is going to crawl early since she can already get around so well. Here she is holding herself up so well. Noah went back to Utah a week ago and then my parents went out of town for a church activity the following day, so it's back to pretty normal slow days for us this past week. My brother in law and sister in law are moving to North Carolina for Law School this week, so we spent Saturday night at the Lazenby's for our last family get together before they take off. And on Tuesday Jadie and I took the kids swimming for a chance to see each other a little bit before they go. I am really going to miss them when they're gone. Dutch and Jackson had a lot of fun playing together on Tuesday. Chase and Craig's little quads were in the backyard when we were over there and Dutch and Jackson were having so much fun playing on them and pretending to ride. The past couple of days Dutch has really started to get mean with Maylee. Up until now he has really just loved on her and has only hurt her out of love. And I mean that by, he is just loving on her a little to much and it hurts her. Well that has all changed. He has started biting her and hitting her. I can't seem to get him to stop. I am not sure what has started this but it is getting to be a bit frustrating. If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them. But even though he is being mean he does still love her and he can get the best laughs out of her. I love watching them interact together (when Dutch is being nice) it melts me. You know those precious moments when your babies are little tiny and they fall asleep on their dads chest on the couch and dad is out too. Well the other day Dutch and David fell asleep together on the couch while watching 'Cars' and it was just one of the those super precious moments that you just love and it reminded me of when Dutch use to always take naps with David but now he is just to big to be on his chest that he lays right beside him. Maylee and I together. I sure love this little girl.

More Pictures

Here are just a couple more pictures from our trip. The waterfall is so pretty. It is so much fun there, I wish I could take every body back there with me. David and I Noah and I Tara and I If you look closely you can see the bump on my dad's head where David hit him. And here is David's battle wound. It was almost strange using a film camera again. I haven't had to get film developed in four years. I forgot how exciting it is to take pictures and not know what they look like until you get them developed. It was fun to use film again. But I do have to say I love my digital camera.

Fossil Creek

Fossil Creek Dam Wednesday was one of the best days I have had in a really long time. It was an early birthday gift for me, sort of. For my birthday I wanted my Dad to take David and I to Fossil Creek. And since Noah was in town we decided to do it a month early and go with everyone. So Noah, Seth, Tara, Stormy, her friend Jay, Tara's cousin Alec, Dad, David and I all went to Fossil Creek and we met up with my cousin Nate and his wife Kim. And it was a blast. If you have never been to the dam there at Fossil Creek, you are so missing out. It is a four mile hike in and then you come to the most gorgeous water hole. There is cliff diving, rope swings and a really cool cave under the waterfall. We got off to kind of a late start but it wasn't to big of a deal. The water is freezing cold but it's still wonderful. After we got there we were all standing on a ledge in the water. (Here is Nate, Tara and I standing on the same ledge.) Anyways so all of us are in the water on this ledge, when all of the sudden my Dad popped up out of the water holding his head and looking very disoriented. So I said to Nate, grab Dad, he must have hit his head on a rock. So Nate and Seth were able to pull Dad up on the ledge and Dad kept saying, 'who hit me, who hit me'. So I said you hit your head on a rock. No one saw what happened. Then all of the sudden David pops up out of the water looking just as disoriented as Dad did, so Seth pulled David up and someone said he's bleeding. What happened was David dove off the ledge and Dad was swimming under water and they hit heads really hard. Luckily they were both ok but we were all a lot more cautious of where everyone was when we were diving in. Dad got a huge goose egg on his forehead and David cut his head open. (Here is a picture of David, after the accident.) That was the only bad thing that happened. The rest of the day was great. We played all day. There is this little cave type thing under the waterfall. So everyone was swimming under the currents and coming up in the cave. My Dad kept trying to get me to do, but it was making me feel very panicked. You have to dive about five feet down, so that you are under the current of the waterfall so it won't take you down the pool and then you just have to swim about 15 feet to the cave. But for some reason every time I would go down under the current it would send me into manger panic mode. Finally I decided to just suck it up and go. Dad swam in front of me so I could see where I needed to go and David swam beside me. And when I popped up in the cave everyone cheered for me and then I started crying. Talk about feeling dumb, but man it just freaked me out. But once I did it that once, I realized it wasn't bad at all and I even did it again. And it is really cool in that little cave behind the waterfall. The guys swung from the rope but there was no way any of us girls would. (Here is David swinging from the rope.) Stormy under water. Noah under water. Seth and Tara Dad, Stormy and Noah All of us... It was such a great day. I really love being able to spend an entire day with my family and have so much fun. I hope that we can do it again soon. And I just want to say thanks to the Grandmas for watching the babies so that we could go and enjoy ourselves. Davids mom watched our two kids all day, and my mom had Seth's kids all day. So thank you Grandmas. There will probably be more pictures to come, these photos were from Stormy's under water camera, I haven't got my pictures developed yet. But I will soon.

A very fun week

Well Noah is in town. Which makes for a very fun week. He doesn't come home as often as we all would like for him to, so when he does you would think a celebrity has come to town. We get very excited to see him and we play. On Wednesday Tara and the boys came over to play with Dutch and I. It was a great day. The boys played all day and swam for a bit outside, while Tara and I just got to hang out and chat all day. It was great. Tara left at about three in the afternoon and after she left Dutch was so exhausted from all the fun that he laid down and took a 3 1/2 hour nap. It was wonderful. And then for a wonderful surprise that night, Noah showed up on my doorstep on his way into town. Stormy was in on the surprise and she happened to be coming to my house anyways so Noah, Stormy, David and I stayed up visiting and playing the Wii until super late, well in mine and David's opinion, it was actually only 11:30 when they left. But it was great fun. Then on Thursday I went out to Seth and Tara's and we all went swimming at their club house for several hours. Afterwards we went over to my parents house (they were out of town but us kids took over) and made dinner. Seth grilled up some steak and chicken with baked potatoes and Tara and I made fried zucchini, with the zucchini from our garden. Let me just say that the zucchini was super yummy, I was very impressed. Here is a picture of the wonderful produce from our garden. And I just wanted you all to get an idea of just how big some of zucchini is. It is as big as my arm. I guess we didn't find it in the garden until it was super large but really, I don't know how we could have missed it. After dinner we went and watched fireworks over in Estrella. Dutch loved it. I didn't have my camera with me so I was bummed about that. But he was so excited over the fireworks. He kept saying, "Oh Wow". It was so cute. It kept his attention the entire time. Then we headed back to my parents house. I got my kids to bed and then us adults stayed up super late again and played the game, Apples to Apples. It is like my new favorite game. If you haven't played it, you should. On Friday evening once my parents got back in town we had homemade pizzas over there, thanks to Seth and Tara for putting that together. And then it was just a nice evening of visiting and again ending the day with playing, Apples to Apples. Saturday David and I headed over to his parents house to see and visit with them for a while and get some swimming in. And then Seth, Tara, their boys and Noah came to spend the evening with us. We had grilled chicken salads for dinner and then David put on a little firework show for us all. He had some sparklers for the little kids, but we quickly figured out that they are still way to little for that. So then he got some fountains out. They just stay on the ground and look like a little water fountain basically. Nothing big. Until he lit one and it ended up not being a fountain and they shot way up into the air. Very scary because well... fireworks are illegal. And the noise of them scared the kids so they all started crying. So Tara and I headed in the house with the babies and then everyone else followed. David stayed out to make sure the fireworks were all out and then we just tried to act cascual in our house just in case police showed up, you know act like nothing happened. So we got out the Wii and started playing that. It was a great night. I love getting together with my brothers and sisters. I love them all so much. Seth and Noah playing the Wii.
